The moment I smell Spring in the air, and hear the birds chirping – I can’t help but think about all that the warm weather brings! Getting in the garden, after dinner bike rides, eating outside as much as possible – are a few of my faves. And another big one on the list…iced drinks!
If you’ve been around this blog of mine very long, you know I am all about tasty, and easy drinks. And you all seem to like them too – some my most popular recipes (Buttered Hot Cocoa and Super Simple Egg Drop Soup) are drinks!
My love for drinks runs deep, and for good reason – it’s half for the enjoyment of drinking said drink, and half about taking the time to make myself a special drink (even a simple cup of tea). To take a break from the hustle and bustle of the day, and slow down for a few minutes to INTENTIONALLY create something yummy for myself. It is a mindfulness practice I have actually been practicing for years, and I really do think it’s been the catalyst for finding other ways to practice mindfulness in my days.

And for as long as I can remember (at least 10 years!) my go to warm weather drink of choice is an iced dandy blend latte. Some people discover Dandy Blend because they are looking for an alternative to coffee. That’s not how Dandy and I met, but it is an added benefit. I really just love Dandy Blend for the taste and the ease! With the vanilla extract and the maple syrup, it tastes quite like a milky coffee shade – oh it’s so good!!
Ok, what is Dandy Blend? Dandy Blend is a powder you can mix with warm or cold liquid, made from extracts of barley, rye, dandelion, chicory and beet roots. To read more about this product, and to learn more about the health benefits, click HERE.

A friend recently pointed out that most of the Well Beyond the Kitchen recipes are actually more like formulas. She’s right, and this drink is no different! I like flexibility when I cook, and to have a framework/formula, often feels like all I need. I know that’s not the way everyone cooks, but I guess that’s why there are millions of recipes and food bloggers on the internet! So above is a picture of the “formula”, and below are more exact measurements for those who work that way ;).
On to the recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
